I want to trim the cinquefoil and spirea. I doubt whether it is too late this season?
Personally, I cut the cinquefoil in the spring before the buds open. I cut only the ends with seed boxes and a little even. As for spirea, I will say the following. If you have a spring-flowering variety, then pruning it is practically not needed, except for sanitary, when you need to remove old shoots, dry and broken branches, shoots that have frozen over during the winter. Pruning in this case should be carried out immediately after flowering. If you have summer-flowering spirea growing, then you need to prune them in the early spring, starting from the fourth year of life.
